Whether you wish to arrange your own flowers, or purchase a pre-made arrangement, the right supplies are a key component to beautiful floral displays. Whether you are working with fresh cut flowers, dried flowers, or silk flowers, a necessity for budding florists is a container to display your arrangement. Two popular choices are vases and flower pots. Both are offered in a wide variety of shapes, colors, and styles and you are sure to find one to fit all your floral needs. Once you have selected your container, you will need supplies to keep your flowers in place. Often those working with fresh cut flowers need only to fill their vases with water. Some, however, prefer to add an extra element to their arrangement by filling their vase with marbles or other vase fillers such as gel beads. Glass marbles and gel beads are available in a variety of colors designed to complement your flowers and enhance the look of your display.

When creating an arrangement out of silk flowers, foam bases are frequently used to keep flowers in place. There are many types of foam available including Styrofoam, Floral Foam, and Sculpting Foam. You may also wish to add to your arrangement with colorful ribbons and/or paper raffia. You may also wish to line your arrangement with artificial grass and twigs to invoke a more natural look. Artificial fruit can be added as well.

Regardless of the type of arrangement you wish to create, there are some basic necessities that you will need. To cut your blooms to the perfect length, you will need a good knife or pair of shears. Additionally, when working with artificial flowers, a hot glue gun is an excellent tool for keeping your arrangements in place.
